In wrapping up 2009 I thought it would be a good idea to showcase some of the best portfolio site designs from the year. In this post you’ll see 25 portfolios with a variety of different styles (all have been featured in our gallery since it’s launch in June). Feel free to leave your comments on your own favorites from the year.

Awesome list, don’t agree with some of them to be the best I’ve seen, but all are amazing!
Wondering, is this list put together by the site statistics or is it based on editors choice?

The list was based mostly on editor’s choice, although stats were also considered. I wanted to get a list of sites that were designed in 2009, not just showcased in our gallery during 2009. So there were a lot of others that could have been included, but they were either designed prior to 2009 or I wasn’t sure when they were designed.

I see thanks for clearing that up, is the roundup of best designs going to be a regular feature? I like it, might be a nice idea to make it monthly? or every other monthly :p

I’m not really sure if it will be a regular thing. To be honest the two biggest issues are: 1) I don’t have much time available, and 2) I’m not sure how much “extras” subscribers and visitors will be interested in. So I appreciate your comment because it helps to see that there is some interest.

Bit of the blast from the past since its 2011 now, but great to see that fantastic design really lasts as those sites still look great and definitely withstood the test of time. Inspirational!
